Breaking down the My Disney Experience app to see what features are highlighted the most and why the design works. This breakdown was done in early 2020 prior to many changes that have been made to the app.

Home Page

The home page is similar to the front page of a news article. It informs the users about what is currently happening at the park between park operrating times, show and attraction times. The home page can help first time users of what they should do or how they should plan their day at the park because if it's on the home page it's either something new to the park or it's something that is popular and recommended to see/do.

Park Maps

The park map is the most important and used feature in the app. Having the map in the app allows the users to never lose their park map, general wait times for attractions, location of restaurants, bathrooms, and characters. Users are able to look at the entire map of Walt Disney World and can use the search bar to look for shows, restaurants, and attractions to find more detail.

Shopping

Shopping is another area of the app and overall park experience that is important. Users can use the app to browse for merchandise, scan barcodes, and mobile order their purchases. If certain merchandise isn't at the gift shop the user is currently at they can use the park map to tell them where they can find it at another gift shop or order it through the Shop Disney website. Not all merchandise will have price with the barcode, users can use their camera to scan the barcode and see the price.
